April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July. She began lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. Her interest in writing songs was ignited. In April, when she was 12 years old, she composed her first single Different. At 14, April spent much time writing songs and honed her musical ability. The following months, she started taking notes along with her father in LA as well as NY. The month also saw her include different topics related to some of her peers who are dealing with such things as peer pressure disabilities and even teen suicide in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart collaborates with popular Clean Beauty brand Ilia as well as a lifestyle blogger who has a growing fan base. Her disability is a part of her persona, however it's not all of the picture. Lockhart acknowledges her handicap on her Instagram account, but she isn't making it the focal point of her story. What is the message? The message is that we are more than the physical person we are. Our identities are multifaceted and we contain many different aspects. Lockhart tells Lockhart via video "I don't think that should define my character. I don't intend to be an influencer on disability because I have many more things to contribute." My daily life isn't directly affected by disability. I lead a normal, everyday life and find myself solutions for problems. Because it's an integral part of me, it's something that's worthy of talking about. Self-acceptance is a long marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me in this regard. Lockhart admits to having been through times when she was uncomfortable the way she dressed and showed her arms. Now, though she dons whatever she wants and posts images of her outfits to social media with pride. The key to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a place to go. However, that is typical for people that is prone to doubts. I believe that it's really vital to surround yourself people who are able to identify and feel your heart.
